When I completed my degree in 1984 the PC revolution was in its infancy. I got my first job in software in 1988 writing in C, which I had taught myself. It was for all intensive porpoises the only software language. Now there are over 300 and most of them will be gone in a few years.

If you learn Javascript you really haven’t learned anything but How, you know nothing about Why. Untyped languages are toys. Everyone should learn C or assembly and then specialize. I’ve worked with too many people who were completely helpless when something didn’t work.

I can learn a new language in 2–7 days maximum. Had I. Started with JS that would not be so.
