Well I’m sorry to have harshed your buzz but I awoke this morning out of the closest I’ve had to a nightmare in several decades to a nonchalant reference to pair programming, which for me was a waking nightmare that nearly put me in the hospital. I don’t ever want to be as close to anyone else as pairing forced me to be unless we’re having sex.

And if you think that pair programming is a viable way to write software then we literally come from different centuries.

However, what you are reacting to with such hyperbole seems to me relatively innocuous; I simply said that, no, sitting alone and working with unbroken concentration does not constitute a methodology in the same sense as these approaches that have taken the enjoyment out of software development for those of us who remember its halcyon days, before the dark times of three recurring meetings every day.

Perhaps you had better mute me or block me, because my views on this are not going to change.

Peace,

Chris Fox
