“Software engineer” insults genuine engineers. Mechanical Engineers don’t invent their own “personal blueprint styles” and no engineers change their work and collaboration patterns in response to fads and gimmicks.
Software development remains an immature practice and is further from engineering than economics is from science. Managers who have never coded, coders who have never focused for ten minutes.
Now go attend your “morning standup” and write some “unit tests” and find a way to squeeze ten lines of code into some “design pattern.”
And be sure to regard anyone who wants to concentrate as “toxic” and “mentally ill.”
Hardly any of you under 40 have ever learned to concentrate. You’re no more engineers than I’m the Pope.
