My experience is opposite. I am much more productive working from home. Software management was once all about minimizing interruptions; now it seems to try to maximize them. Recurring meetings, cubicles and open offices, high noise levels, loud conversations.
At home I can get into Flow almost every day; in an office it was unattainable.
Look how far we’ve fallen; a week without a meeting is a radical concept. At Microsoft in 1989 we had one (1) hour-long recurring meeting per week and it routinely let out early. I only WFH now, since 2010, and if I get a recurring meeting invitation I always decline it. They are almost always wasted time and they are always interruptions.
