If people are checking out during meetings then it's probably because the meetings are wasted time, as the great majority of them are, and this is a certainty for recurring meetings.
I've never worked at a place where we used video on conference calls, audio is bad enough. I never wear a shirt inside the house (I live in Vietnam and it's HOT) and don't want to have to wear one.
We had a daily meeting that I came to dread because everyone else insisted on a screen share and I hate scree-sharing, since it almost never had a purpose other than hijacking my screen to watch someone else's mouse cursor roam around like a fly on the ceiling. And one guy was three times louder than anyone else and PUT the acCENT on THE wrong sylLAble all the time, which is the reason Americans hated Indian tech support.
