If I am doing a local commit just to switch branches (I don’t trust stash, I’ve lost too much work that way) then I have nothing to annotate and I will just put in a dot to shut it up. Later when I have some actual work to commit and push then yes I will do a real message,
Nevertheless the dev lead had a cow over those dots with “unacceptable” this and “unacceptable” that. And this was the moron who did five branches, each with two more lines than the previous, to merge a completed feature into master.
I don’t like git fanaticism. Anyone who creates a branch to fix a spelling error in a comment should get into another line of work.
