I want to be as socially distant from my coworkers as I can manage and I am not talking about coronavirus. Best-friend coworkers can turn into obsessed enemies in a second if you disagree with them on ... anything.

I've worked from home exclusively since 2010 and many times before that, and I am never going back. I hate being interrupted whether it's by loud conversations across the hall or pointless meetings where staying awake is the very best I can do.

We were using Zoom on my last gig and I came to hate it. "Let me share my screen" so you can watch me wiggle my mouse. One of the other developers had a voice that could etch diamond and routinely restarted discussions we were already deep into, like he'd been rebooted.

"I’m an adult, not a fifth-grader. Give me the assignment, give me the deadline, and then leave me TF alone so I can get it done."
