I know what you mean there; in my early days at Microsoft, 1989-90, before things started to go bad, I could walk down a hallway and be smarter at the end of it. everybody there was very smart and very engaged.
Late they decided they wanted obedient people more than smart people, reserving the really bright ones for research and hiring more and more foreign developers from cultures that revered obedience.
But meetings like the daily scrum? All I every learned was that most people were working on the same thing as the day before.
I like design sessions. But those aren't meetings. And they're usually not recurring, which are the worst.
