Hard/soft science has nothing to do with it.

Economics does not follow scientific method.

As I said, there is no falsification. A discredited idea like supply side remains as esteemed as ever. I said that experiment is nearly impossible, but still, when an idea shows no signs of success, never works as proclaimed, it should go on the scrap heap. Not university tenure.

That is all I said.

By the way I say the same about jazz. There is some perfectly awful jazz and most jazz since 1970 sounds like the musicians aren’t listening to each other. There are jazz musicians from the 50s who did junk, holding down the sustain pedal and sounding self-pitying. Jazz doesn’t take out the trash. Neither does economics. I now have some jazz I love but I would have been listening to it 20 years sooner had I not been turned off by scattered junk.
